Considering the Toyota 4Runner?
If you've been considering the Toyota 4Runner, you should check out what the Jeep Wrangler has to offer. With ample power, more than adequate passenger and cargo space, a recent redesign, and superior off-road capability - plus the added fun of top-down driving - the new Jeep Wrangler has it all! Curious? Here's how this adventurous Jeep compares to the formidable 4Runner.
Performance and Efficiency
The Toyota 4Runner comes standard with one V6 engine, making 270-horsepower - the only engine available. The Jeep Wrangler, on the other hand, offers a standard 285-horsepower V6, but a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with electric assist technology for increased fuel efficiency is also available.
Off-Road Capability
It's hard to beat the Jeep name when it comes to off-road capability. Jeep vehicles were, after all, developed largely to aid Allied forces in the 1940s over all sorts of rough terrain. This "Go Anywhere. Do Anything® spirit that's been evident in many Jeep models continues in all the new Jeep Wrangler, which offers standard skid-plates and part-time four-wheel-drive, and available off-road aids like stiffer suspensions and locking differentials. The Toyota 4Runner, while equipped with skid-plates and ample ground clearance like the Wrangler, only offers four-wheel-drive as an available feature as opposed to a standard one.
Capacity and Space
The Jeep Wrangler does have slightly less cargo space than the Toyota 4Runner, given it's unique architecture, and the fact that it is a compact SUV, while the 4Runner is a midsize SUV. Both of these SUVs, however, offer ample space for five passengers and plenty extra for gear, luggage, and more.
Safety Features
The Jeep Wrangler, not unlike the Toyota 4Runner, has long been renowned for its sturdy, puritan commitment to a basic, functional form of driving. While this rugged spirit has remained relatively unchanged, the new Jeep Wrangler has undergone a redesign relatively recently that ups the ante on its comfort factor as well as its commitment to increased safety standards. As such, the Wrangler now offers a standard rearview camera and plenty of active safety features. The 4Runner, too, provides a rearview camera, but the only other options are front and rear parking sensors.
Infotainment and Technology
Looking for the latest, best way to access your favorite multimedia or smartphone features? The Toyota 4Runner does offer standard navigation with voice recognition and an Entune infotainment system, but lacks many modern amenities that are available in the Jeep Wrangler - like, for example, Apple CarPlayâ„¢ and Android Autoâ„¢ integration and Uconnect infotainment connectivity.
